With a break in the wet weather, the sun shone on Halesowen in the final of the 2025 Mixed Pairs League final on Sunday 21st September. Puckrup Hall was the venue for the final match of the season with a determined Ombersley team facing a confident Halesowen side, both in form sides fancied their chances of taking home the silverware.
In ideal conditions, match one saw Christine Lees and Gordon Higginson show real class as they steamrollered the Ombersley pairing 8&6 to put an early score on the board for Halesowen, Jodie Jones and Keith Thorn kept the pressure up as they secured the second match point for Halesowen by 4&3. Things started to get a lot tighter in the final groups; however both Ombersley pairings just failed to take down their opponents as first Beverley Collins and Richard Fox made sure of the victory and then Ian Preston and Louise Thomas added the cream on top to secure a clean sweep for Halesowen, both final pairs winning 2&1.
A delighted Christine Lees received the trophy from Committee Representative Tracey Billingham, whilst congratulating Ombersley on a great contest and giving thanks to her Halesowen team for playing so well to secure the victory.
Congratulations to both teams on a great final played in the right spirit of the game.
