Seniors Section

Halesowen Golf Club

Senior Captain Paul Skeldon

The Halesowen Golf Club Seniors section was formed in 1979 when the Directors of the club gave permission to form the section.

Membership of the section is open to Halesowen Golf Club members with a minimum age of 55 years.

Members meet each Tuesday morning, teeing off at 9am, normally playing the 10 holes round the clubhouse using a Seniors Score Card specifically designed for the holes, and a Seniors handicap which, initially reflecting the members club handicap, is adjusted according to playing scores.

Individual Medal or Stableford competitions are normally played, however Alliance and Team competitions are also held.

During the year members compete for:

10 Cups and Trophies (Medal, Stableford or PAR)

Club Championship (Best four medal rounds out of 6)

Seniors Captain Prize (Match Play)

Winners of the major competitions are presented with their trophies at the Seniors Annual Dinner and Presentation Evening

Playing on a Home and Away basis we play 8 local clubs in friendly matches, which are followed by Lunch, genial hospitality and camaraderie.

The Seniors Open is held in July each year and admits players from any club, over the age of 55 and holding an official CONGU handicap. The Open has four age groups and prizes are awarded for each group.

The “Seniors” is a thriving section with more than sixty members.

If you are interested in joining the section, or would like more information, please contact the Seniors Captain, or come and see us one Tuesday morning.
